I don't get the harking back - most cars looked terrible back then, save for a very few and even then they're acquired tastes.

Modern cars look amazing by comparison.

Beauty is phased by history, companies don't sell cars that look vintage because no one would buy them.

i still remember seeing my first yamaha LC 250 in 81 gob smackingly gorgeous after the air cooled 250 and 999 quid...its about what floats your boat at the time not rose tints..
i like seeing old cars but most now really do look the same.
my kia sport waggon looks like every other mid sized estate car if you squint a little.
but its a fab car compared to my cortina 74 vintage..but i loved that mk3 back then

Sure a little nostalgia, but for the most beautiful car of all time?

The art and design put in these days is far beyond anything back then.

Even a mid range Alfa today beats 99% of the rest of history in looks.

Cons

Consider yourself reprimanded. That thing looks like it is made from the plastic trays in my fridge and bits of air ducts.
Step outside, Sir.

If I could double like that one I would. And talking of Group C, I actually owned one of these -

Like that one, it was the Tamiya 1/12 scale R/C model.

And if a GP car has ever looked more gorgeous than the Lotus 49B, I've never seen it.

Can't agree with you there. VW beetle, Fiat 500, sell because of the retro looks, and most companies try to keep some element of previous models looks in their new designs. Most modern cars are samey to me, a result of computer design, crash regulations and wind tunnels to improve fuel consumption.

Oh, forgot to add Porsche to that list too.

Alfa (and Citroen) do seem to try and be different 8C/4C spider and Brera I'd agree with but Mito and Guilitta not so much.
And I'm biased as I've got a bit of an Alfa problem

And there's the Mini - clearly styled to give the impression of the ...

mini

And didn't GM deliberately style one to look like a 1950's car?
