A few years ago, when they first appeared in this country, 'West Yorkshire Traffic', had a Vauxhall Monaro on test
It was the big coupe, not the later saloon
The testing Officers loved it!, a big, fast, stable car - very much in the vein of a faster, more powerful Senator
When it was started up, at the workshops, it emptied the place, as staff came to see what was producing this hell of a noise
Sadly, the Bean Counters weren't swayed by it, even though, running costs can't have been that different to a big B*W of the day
It was more, at that point, the spares situation
I was told once, by an acquaintance on traffic, who I see at work, that the later saloon was tested too, but that it was still deemed too 'left-field'
(in Aus, it's also available, as an estate, & a 'ute')
There was one, not too far from me, it belonged to a neighbour of one of my running club buddies
I'm led to believe that a mixture of theft attempts, & scaring himself led to the sale of it about 2 years ago
