Looking for a good compromise for a road bike.

I have Marathon Plus in 32c which I use through winter, but looking now to go back down to 25 or 28c. It's a Whyte Suffolk.

Won't just be commuting, but the commute itself is 15-20 miles each way along mostly country roads. Not a lot of city/town cycling basically!

I'd like something a bit lighter than the M+, but like a bit of peace of mind too that they won't puncture much.

What's the industry standard for the commuter/weekend warrior?

I know you said you wanted something lighter but personally I 'd stick with the marathon plus. I use 28s on the commuter and have 25s on the road bike.

Vittoria Rubino Pro Tech 28mm folders on my commuter. Higher thread count, softer compound and extra puncture protection compared to regular Rubinos, and after riding Marathons will feel like being borne aloft on the wings of angels.

Do you notice much difference? I've got 32 and would likely be going 25.

I'm not good enough to notice any difference ^_^ You should double check that your rims will take a 25

Conti 4 Seasons are some of the best for weight and all weather performance.

If you want more puncture protection, then the Schwalbe Durano Plus is very good. Mine have been cut to schreds on the commute, but none of the glass shards have got through the smart guard yet. There is lots of glass on a section of my commute.

From where in 25mm variant, easy to find in 23mm but that won't work for your wheels I expect

CRC look to have stock
