The early ones were the 450 collaboration between Swatch and Mercedes hence Swatch-Mercedes-ART, mine is the 451 and has a Mitsubishi engine in it. They do the job they are quirky but you soon get used to the semi automatic gearbox. No-one seems to like being behind one but they sit easily at 70mph so on quiet runs in the left lane on the motorway I frequently get cars next to me, and I'm thinking yes you're going to have to break the law now aren't you lol. They have a good following with owners groups on Facebook and regular meet ups. The plastic panels can be changed to change the colour of the car, although mine is black on the logbook and stays black whatever the colour of the panels because it's the safety tridion shell that determines the colour. Most seem to be silver I've been the only black one at meet ups before now. I like them as you can tell but they're not everyone's cup of tea🙂
