It will be worn out at 147,000 miles.

Brakes, suspension, bushings, engine mounts, engine wear cambelt/chain.- unless it has an owner who regularly gets all the work done and has very recent service history.

I see them advertised with 220 k on them still going along. An they don't have a cam belt :okay:

I see Suzuki have already been mentioned. Would an Alto fit the bill or would it be too small? Mine has been pretty good over the last couple of years reliability-wise, it's a hoot to drive, being like a road legal go-kart, it's refined enough to have a normal conversation with your passenger at 70mph and the engine pulls really well for a 1 litre. Edit: economy is 50 miles per gallon+ without trying.

It wouldn't be too hard to find a low mileage example for about £2k.

I've come to this from a Kia Picanto which I felt was probably better packaged, but wasn't reliable and I hated driving.

Also look at Suzuki splashes. Another big small car!

I've the Vauxhall Agila variant of this; the same except for a Vauxhall badge.

It's perfectly fine as a local runabout in it's 1.2 litre guise. A bit basic, but that's OK for short journeys.

A mate of mines got one he's had some nice cars in the past but happy to run around in this tbh.

Guy at work got a low mileage Suzuki Ignis for pretty cheap. It's a 2007 with about 30,000 miles. It looks pretty strange if that bothers you, but that's why it's cheap. I'm sure it will be a really good car though.

Can get a Smart fortwo for £2000. I've had mine for 5 years and use it for the work commute, local trips and motorway journeys. I don't know what low torque means but it has good mpg and is great fun to drive. It's £20 a year tax, ulez compliant, and cheap to keep as it has windy windows, no Aircon or power steering to go wrong. I've been to Scotland, lake district, Wales, Cambridgeshire does long journeys fine. It has good headroom and is surprisingly spacious inside, good bootspace, and the passenger seat folds for longer items. It has a drop tailgate which has storage compartment in it, makes a handy table. I love mine it's 2008 petrol and has done 108000 miles now they are little characters🙂
