Clean, lint-free cloths and isopropanol in a spray bottle - either straight or mixed at anything up to maybe 70/30 with water will do.

Spray screen and wipe with cloth; note that while not detectable to the touch, some areas require a reasonable buffing to remove stuff present on the surface that manifests as obviously "different" to other areas.

If there's a lot of dust you may wish to vacuum or dry-brush first to remove this.

Equally if the glass is heavily soiled keep using clean cloths and more IPA until it looks clean.

Finally once everything has flashed off / dried give it a good buff with a clean, dry cloth - this is the secret to getting the smears out.

I use this on all large bits of glass and it's faultless; the only thing I'd add is that on exterior glass it's washed with warm soapy water first to remove airbourne grit / anything large.

What am I missing on this microfibre trend?
I'd suggest greater capacity to carry dirt due to the greater surface area of the loops, the fact that they tend to capture and retain stray particles (especially fibres) and that they don't shed fibres themselves.

While an avid devotee to recycling every knackered piece of clothing into a cleaning cloth, for some jobs (where a spotless finish is required such as glass or bathroom ceramics) some microfibre cloths are on the shopping list.

The old T-shirts and boxers will be kept for less-critical general jobs..

I used a couple of cotton tea towels and warm water for now, those cloths I posted a picture of earlier are rubbish when wet lol.

Before buying expensive car cleaning concoctions, try some household window cleaner, iirc about 85p in Aldi, cleans glass up a treat

After years of using supermarket owns brands and usually finding it pretty poor, tried a more expensive one. It's expensive at nearly a tenner, but it lasts for ages and is way, way better. I just apply with it with one microfibre cloth and use another to take off the residue.
