Interesting responses.

My objection to them is that they won't go away when asked.

I'd defend their right to follow their beliefs against anyone though.

What? All you have to do is say 'no thank you'. In my experience anyway.

I think their faith is gettig a bit of a beating and it's probably because of their recruiting tactics.

I've never had a JW refuse to go away when asked. The furthest they got with me was when I was woken up by a knock at the door, and answered it half-asleep. They managed to give me a leaflet without me refusing it.

I find the same response works with all cold-callers. Inturrupt them with a "No. Thank you" and close the door. Ive never had anyone knock again.

I may be talking out of term but the JW faith deserves the same respect as any.
Sod all then? Why should we respect credulity?

If we were taking the mick out of Islam or Catholism, I feel it would be looked on in a different manner.
It might well be looked on in a different manner but that doesn't mean it should be. We should be free to criticise any religion as we see fit.

Can we be honest and say that Jehovah's Witnesses hold ludicrous beliefs which are often deserving of ridicule?

How have you got the right to criticise a belief that you don't believe in.

My uncle, who you could say looks a lot like Jehovah (6ft 7") very long beard and big hair, once heard some witness' of his coming, so he opened the door to his apartment just before they knocked, rubbed his hands together and said quiet loudly and with presence "SO, how many have we got then!!!"
They certainly didn't come back.

i myself like to laugh at them, and close the door.

I have invited them in in the past and had interesting debates, but also they have always accepted a simple no thank you if I'm not in the mood or too busy to tallk with them. I also have many JW colleagues who are always preaching to me, but I give as good as I take.

I'm sorry, if they are going to tell me about their beliefs they are going to have to justify them. And it's just what I would expect from any other belief religious or not.

I also have the right to criticise them because I'm included in their beliefs. According to most religious beliefs, I'm either going to burn in hell or stay in my grave while the souls of the believers go to heaven. I have every right to say that, as far as I can tell, they are incorrect.

TBH they are a bit smarter than that round our way now..... the kids in tow give it away, but you have to look hard at the front of the 'handouts' to see who they are...... they don't explicitly say who they are.....

No-one likes cold callers...so they are obviously being given the wrong impression of folk deliberately.....

Chill out Chris.

They are incorrect? Prove it then?

Oh no, you can't. Neither can any faith so, IMO, they have much right to theirs as you have to yours.
