Just don't think about the Rapha lot in Manchester, miserable bunch, and the load that ride from Pinarello Wilmslow (including the social media 'influencer').

Is she really miserable in real life? I've never met her, but do quite like her channel in spite of her childish mannerisms.

If it's one of the two I'm thinking of here - I've met both of them on audaxes - the answer's "no". They're fine.

Remember that the YouTube stuff is based on a persona and in real life the individual is often quite different. I'm even in one of their videos for my troubles and yes, they did ask permission before filming.

It's all a bit 'bollix' though isn't it. Free stuff, marketing (OK you'll understand it better than I do). I'd rather just get on and ride my bike

The only KoM I ever took was on a lowly Tiagra equipped 5 year old alu road bike. While I couldn't really care less what others are riding as a general rule I did take satisfaction that a 19 stone chap on yesterday's third rate ride had just spanked a load of slimline chiselled sorts called Brent and Ollie on bikes costing several multiples more.

I don't have a Strava so have never checked whether I am a King or a Queen (is there such a thing?) of any rides or climbs. (Disclaimer: there is not a cat-in-hell's chance).

I even read the other day about some ridiculous thing for cyclists called Sufferlandria where people are knighted or made a Dame for riding indoors. E.g. there are 609 in the UK but only 1 in Trinidad and Tobago. We are weird.

Makes the bike envy/one-upmanship mindset sound almost normal.
