I have a specific add on to my insurance with Co-operative. Household contents cover upto £1k, but I've covered two other bikes for less than £10 on top of the existing policy.

Insurance that's just bike specific seems much more expensive than insuring a car. As you've got some nice bikes, look to do a household policy extension. I think the bike insurance only quotes for my Herety were over £400 a year.

Just renewed mine with the Post Office with the bike as a named item covers it for theft and accidental damage plus public liability plus all the usual contents upto 30k etc for less than a £10 a month.

Home insurance, ask them. The one claim I made was straightforward, albeit with a meaty excess

My home insurance was under £300, cover bikes under £1500 with no need to specify, with bikes over £1500 named items. I don't think having bike cover added much at all

£30k contents? Have you totted everything up? If you need to make a full claim after a total destruction fire, and you are under insured, there is a risk the insurers will pay nothing at all. This was made very clear to me when I took out a policy

My Mrs works for a Big insurance company ...
Under home and contents policy's ... Be careful if you chose home contents to cover your bike/s .... READ THE POLICY IN FULL ..
Do nt take it for granted your covered.... even if you specify you have bikes and its on the policy
I would try and find a company where you have bike specific insurance ...
especially if your bikes are £££

i've checked bike specific companys and they are extortionate to say the least - all 3 quotes were higher than my car insurance for a brand new car - ridiculous

High risk, new for old replacements, no quibbling as long as use the right lock and follow all the policy terms, no excess, includes 3rd party and personal injury cover, covers accidental damage, racing etc??

Blatant profiteering?

What figure are you trying to insure, and what level of cover? If 5k say and all bells and whistles, not really surprised. Will also depend on your postcode as always with insurance

7k vickster - but still a ridiculous amount. My car insurance is half that amount
