Not sure if this is the right forum for this question (Admin, feel free to move it )
Looking for home & contents insurance and seem to remember (from here I think) someone saying that you can get better bike insurance if it is included in home insurance.
My bike is kept in the garage (locked) overnight.
Any advice please?
Thanks

Indeed, home insurance. Depending on the value of your bikes and the wording of your policy it may be covered or you may need to name specifically

Get away from home cover too assuming you leave your bike away from home. Read the T&Cs carefully around security, excess, what is covered. Better still phone them and ask. The additional premium is likely to be less than a specific policy although excess may be higher

Mine (Zurich through AA IIRC) covers bikes up to £1500, over that, they are named specifically on the policy with an estimated replacement value

I also have cover for me through British Cycling - legal and 3rd party indemnity, as important if not more so IMO

Check the exact wording of the cover provided though. A lot say yes but the cover is not what it seems. Need to make sure you're covered away from home...some won't cover theft unless from the home, some will allow you to lock up at a different locations, but only for a set number of hours...the et ceteras go on....I went seperate on mine in the end and it came out cheaper with all the extra bits I wanted...as Vickster says, accident, legal, indemnity and breakdown cover are all worth consideration...this link is a comparison site for a few 'specialists'...policies vary...happy reading...

Mine is with Nationwide. They cover the contents of my garage up to 5000 with no necessity to name items - as long as the total value is below 5000.*

*the default value was actually 2500, but they raised it to 5000 at a request with no change in the quote.
