About time they realized not everyone has 2 grand plus to drop on a bike , were are not all mamil stockbrokers who have given up golf and sit on our ass , had a few emails with the editor a while back how they could do training articles for those of us who dont sit at a desk all day outlining issues faced for manual shift workers, you can guess what they did

Not suprisingly, I like it.

Its trying something new. It might not be to your taste with disc brakes and moving handlebars. Without innovation we would all still be scooting around on dandy horses.

Cannondale headshock was a much underestimated,(a bit heavier than the Spesh system) pump it up to suit the terrain your riding, I put some 700c wheels on mine, it was good for several KOM's on rougher surfaced roads, The Spesh looks interesting but Bike Of The Year is a tough title to live up to.

Specialized's trick was to create something that made it stand out from all the other identikit fibre reinforced plastic framed bikes that saturate the market. Whether or not its any good I couldn't personally say, but its pleasing to see some innovation in a sector of the cycle market that has become quite inward looking and detail obsessed in recent years.

They've spent so much time and effort making bikes as stiff as they can, that they've had to think up some special gubbins to make them flexible again.

Good grief, I've just heard this news from P-R. Apparently the gubbins they used to make the really stiff frame flexible was too flexible for one guy so they had to invent another gubbins to replace the first gubbins to make it stiff again. In the confusion they didn't fit the properly engineered gubbins but a prototype gubbins which broke, so the poor guy's steerer came apart and he fell off and got an owie and couldn't finish his bike ride.

Very true, but my objection is being involved in a pile up, in a ( relatively) large group, caused by the disparity in braking effectiveness of a mixed bunch of disc and rim braked bikes. To be pedantic that P5x is actually a tri bike anyway.

Seeing as decent rim brakes can lock the wheels wet or dry anyway, any disparity in braking will be down to the level of grip twixt tyres and road, although having your Specialized handlebars fall off won't help.
