Bike purchase advice please

Hi

Hope I'm in the right forum.

My mate is turning 40 and is looking to get back in the saddle after many years of playing tennis ! He's looking for a hybrid (he thinks!) for a mixture of some road stuff and the rest on cycle paths with his kids.

I reckon (as a former hybrid owner) that a hybrid is just the job. he's researched to an extent and reckons he likes the looks and spec of either the Gary Fisher Kaitei or Marin Fairfax in a 21 " frame size. I have no idea what advice to give him. Does anyone have any viiews on either of these ?

We have a pal who owns a bike shop selling Raleigh and Diamondback so if anyone could suggest an alternative from them then that would be worth a look.#

emm tennis player,so he's pretty fit then.forget about the hybred get a good quality road bike.take a look at the chainreaction site there selling off principia frames at crazy prices (brilliant bikes) your buddy in the bike shop could build this frame up no problem ,.for god safe dont buy cheap crap it's just not worth it honestly.
