I've seen backwards forks on a £2500 road bike in the window of a real bike shop. By the time I had returned with a camera, the oversight had been corrected
As a Bikeability instructor I regularly check children's bikes and it is definitely not unusual to find forks in back-to-front. I only had one like that last week. The full-sus bike which barely had the front half connected to the rear half made up for the lack of the usual holwers.
