Bike shop waiting times

My LBS has started a drop off repair service. You have to phone first to get a time slot, and then deliver the bike via the back door. The front of the shop has the shutters down with a big notice on them. He is at the moment on a two week waiting list. He is a one man band and he says that the demand is outstripping the time he has available during the week.
He does still have a few new bikes, but only a few.

I've just booked my new bike in for a cockpit and rear mech swap...13 June

What is a "cockpit" I thought it was something you found on a plane.

Handlebars, shifters, maybe stem, tape. Seems quite logical no, the controls at front of bike (like in a plane)?

I thought a well used term?

I must be living in the past @vickster I just call them handlebars!

I suppose soon if you strap a bag under your crossbar that will be "frieght"

No...that would be freight (I before E except after C )

I’d say handlebars are just the bars, I’m having different shifters and crosslever brakes plus new tape (on a narrower pair of bars)

I have a well paid job...limited outgoings...no one else to financially support (never been daft enough to have children)

My 3 week long haul holiday got cancelled this month too

and I’ve sold 3 bikes and only bought one this month 👍 (and I can sell the parts that get replaced if I wish)
