I've been wanting to replace my old steely for ages but commitments have come in between me spending out on one, I've just been offered a nice bike for a reasonable price but the frame maybe a tad to big what do your guys think?

Its a BMC Streetracer SR02 2011 for £500 its a 57 frame

I'm 175cm tall and would be more suited to the 54 frame but the bikes at an affordable price and I know its been looked after so would be a shame to pass it up?

I'm 175mm tall

At only 175mm tall, I think you may struggle with a bike that has a 5700mm top tube, or even a 5400mm top tube, or any bike for that matter. ^_^

If you meant to type 175cm, then I suspect that you will find the 57 too big. If it doesn't fit you , then no matter how cheap it was, it may become an expensive mistake.

I am 185cm tall and ride a 58.

Well spotted lol ...doh, I suppose I just need to take it for a spin and get a feel for it at the moment my Steely is WAY to big for me but somehow its fine for me to ride.

A stubby stem can SOMETIMES be used to make a larger frame feel more rideable ?? I think, try it an see is a good way to go, and not just round the block. You would need to do a few miles to be sure.
