I've just got back from the bike shop having had the same problem. After much deliberation I have decided that the 56cm was a perfect fit for me. I'm an even 6' with 33" inside leg measurement. I'll be ordering mine in less than two weeks - just waiting to sell my MTB which only ever gets used on the road.

theres no law against throwing your leg over a different type of bike of the same size to get an idea of fit
I disagree. well ok there is no law, but trying a 56cm from one company and expecting another to be the same is like sitting in a Golf and then expecting the Focus to be the same for fit

Ive brought a second hand 54cm Jamis road bike The guy i got it from was about 6'2" (same as me) he told me hed been professional fitted for the bike but all what i read tells me it too small Ive tried measuring angles and all seems ok my only issue is my foot touches the front wheel on tight turns is this normal ?
Absolutely not - No.

I would say that this is a little on the dangerous side.

Fwiw - Cavendish is apparently trialling a frame one size to small (but only one size).

A 54 for a 6' 2' bloke ?

I doubt very much that a pro bike fitter would ever size a 54 for this dude.

Foot hits front wheel interface seems Bad.

Since re-measuring my height im actually 181 cms so 56 should be good!

Wonder if I'm the only one that googles '181 cm in feet and inches'.
Stating height in metric units confuses lots of people, even people a lot younger than me and I was taught only metric at school.

My 54cm Genesis has almost identical dimensions to my 57cm Bianchi.

Depends on individual manufacturers and how they do their measurements.
