summerdays said:Well the report on the evening news implied the rate of 9 per day in Bristol was twice the national average. It seemed to imply that the police had set up camera's watching some spots to try and catch the thieves. Also they seemed to think that thieves were actually following cyclists home to see where they lived. One man they had on the report (who Mr Summdays recognised as someone he had worked with in the past), had been targeted 9 times by thieves breaking into his garage.

It's the garage/shed raids that worry me - looks as though in some cases there is some serious force used to get in, and then set to with serious tools to break locks etc. inside the garage...... I'm lucky I am tucked out of the way, and we always spot odd cars as there is no through traffic.

In his haste he failed to notice that some scrote before him must have been messing with the front wheel quick release (an occupational hazard at this rack). 50 yards down the road the front wheel parted company with the rest of the bike... It cost me a new set of front forks, but the thief was last seen stumbling down the road on foot, apparently in considerable agony, after abandoning the two parts of my bike.
