I did a Treasure hunt on the Bristol to Bath cycle path yesterday - they seemed to think they had a good turn out.

I have been called to attend a 'Town Hall' meeting at Jaguar's Engineering Centre ( 17 miles from my office ) tomorrow.

I have just had discussion with my manager as to my choice of transport.

"I will be leaving here 2 hours prior to the meeting start time, or I won't be attending".

"As long as your shirt's not creased".... ;)

if he's driving down why not give him a neatly pressed shirt to take down for you, then if your shirt is creased its his fault

Is anyone else's work celebrating/doing anything to promote National Bike to Work week?

This is what we are doing in Islington. Bike breakfast tomorrow morning morning for those in my neck of the woods. We had a first event on Saturday - a Dr Bike and general bike/LCC promo event.

I guess it will ever be thus but there was one minor gripe - the number of people who came up to us to complain about poor cyclists. I mean, does anyone ever go up to the blokes trying to sell membership of the AA or the RAC and complain to them about bad driving????

Anyway, this is off-topic and a little churlish, so carry on as you were...

Quite impressed with my employer's response - free "breakfast" (probably lunch as it has to be redeemed at a sandwich shop) for cyclists, drop in session for a free bike check, and maintenance courses.

So when is this happening?

Brilliant! Why have I never thought of doing that!

It's all this week - started on Monday. Some local councils are getting involved, some employers are too... but probably not enough. I'd say if you aren't aware of an event near you by now, there probably isn't one. Have a look on the website just in case.

If there isn't one - badger your local council to organise an event next year. Get your employer to send a circular round to get more people riding their bikes (with a freebie to get more up for it).

If you're at college/Uni, they would be bonkers to not be involved if they knew about it. Space for car parking is a premium at most if not all further education sites (I can think of one exception in the Isle of Wight). The more people that cycle, the less cars to find parking for, which means more green space or more expansion land... and less annoyed neighbours from student cars parked on their roads.

IN Liverpool there is a Bike to work ride and breakfast. It meets in a park and then is predicted to take 45mins to go 1.8miles,

Wow. That's almost enough to put anyone off cycling.

My employer has not done anything, but the emailfrom Trek which made me aware of bike to work week, did actually get me cycling to work. So if its got one more person off the roads and onto a bike then its worked for me .

Surely the laws of gravity must kick in when you are cycling that slowly!

Popped along to the Norwich breakfast. There were a lot of fixies! The apricot flapjack was very good.
