OK, I googled Oxford Chaotic Dymnamics and whilst I have a feeble grasp on Chaos theaory, that's waaay beyond me!
I guess there's nothing wrong with being a perfectionist or doing everything exactly, perfectly pedanticaly right, until it impacts upon your relationships with other things, maybe in this case, your housemates by your having to have a full engineering kit in the kitchen for a simple bicycle. As you can see, others of the cycling fraternity (we're the ones on your side

) seem to agree that there maybe a degree of overkill here.
Is there somewhere else you can store the majority and just keep the few essentials handy? This seems the model that most of us use? The modern bike requires not much more than a shoe-box of tools for about 95% of the tasks required.
Do you have a garage or your own room to keep the vast majority that are not needed on a regular basis?
A good relationship with housemates can be pretty important.
