Hi Folks Ive never taken my bike abroad before and was wondering how to transport the bike Ive seen bike travel bags but they are extortionate for what looks like a suitcase with extra padding I would be interested to hear if there are any other ways of doing it or where a good robust bag is available for less than 100 quid BTW Im taking my scott carbon with mavix elite wheels so I guess i will need something solid?

This seems a good deal http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Bike+...and+Wheel+Bags/Avenir+Padded+Bike+Bag_405.htm

Get another couple of quid (4%) off if buy this year

I rented one of these; http://bikeboxalan.co.uk/ (I still can't work the linky thing out on the new fangled site!)
I can't remember the cost I'm afraid, but it wasn't expensive.
It is obviously bulky but as I transported the cf bike I owned at that time I didn't want to chance a soft bag.
I flew with Jet2 to Lanzarote, and while I got away with checking it in as my luggage at Manchester, I got banged for about £35 at Arrecife on the return leg.
The box was superb and I would not hesitate renting one in the future.
