The ancient (but very handsome) Claude Butler Dalesman that I'm converting to a hybrid has rubbish pedals (I wore all the rubber off them on a 90 mile ride) and in the wet they're terrifying.

Can anyone recommend and nice jagged replacement pedals? I'd rather shred my shoes than slip off the pedals in heavy traffic!

I've got some MKS ones, no slippage but my shins are generally shredded

These look especially vicious!

I've given up changing pedals because anything that starts out giving reasonable grip seem to wear down quite quickly. Gone back to toe clips.

Ouch! I'm tempted though!

Those are 1/2", you'll almost certainly need 9/16" for a 'normal' bike.

Just about surviving
I will go clipless one day, not on my commuter though, I don't want my head to pop under a car!
If you fancy trying clipless but want to avoid having to clip in just to get away from lights, junctions etc. quickly how about these. Other people sell something similar. They have the teeth that you would want to avoid slippage and have some good reviews :angel:.

Trolling :troll:. Who me?

Wellgo do make some very bitey pedals; I've got bite-marks in the soles of my trainers to prove it. But I've stopped using them and I've moved onto toeclips. You can have them so loose that there's no effort at all getting in or out in a hurry, but they still stop your feet slipping around.

Clipless all the way. MTB SPD for commutes. Big pedals look so naf on bikes anyway. Can't be doing with any naff'ness ! :becool:

having been bitten by many a pedal... my current Wellgo platform pedals (with studs rather than teeth) have been bloody brill.
