No mobility scooters then?
It doesn't matter whether you're on a mobility scooter, a bike or a pogo stick, you have an absolute duty not to behave in a way that puts other people who are behaving lawfully at risk. Period. And if you fail to do that, and end up hurting someone, you have to stand up and take your punishment like a man.

Was £800 punitive? Yes. That's kind of the point. Was it 'draconian'? I'm not entirely sure what that means, but if it means 'harsh enough so that idiots everywhere get the message', then I hope so.

It doesn't matter how many feet away from the child the parents were. The point is their brains were out of gear or they would have seen the approaching cyclist and taken action to protect their child.
I'm not defending the cyclist, far from it, but don't believe this is quite the black and white case many on here seem to claim, and would consider the fine imposed to be draconian when compared with many road traffic collisions.

the £800 was fine and costs, does anyone know the fine?
