Then I'm even more surprised that you apportioned some of the blame to the OP!

I didn't see any blame apportioned to the OP - the numskull driver didn't look as can happen at any time.

Some of my funniest "brain not engaged" experiences of numskull drivers making utter pratts of themselves have been around school run time too.

Agreed - wasn't your fault at all !

You might have hoped for quieter traffic - but all it takes is a loon or six to give you that "oh sh£t" moment as you cling onto the brakes, and they are out there whatever time you venture forth.
