Ok, been thinking about using earphones on the bike and looking at BlueTooth options.

Has anyone had any experience of these and any feedback?

Christmas is coming, so ideal time...

You do realise what you're likely to start with those words don't you? Better to leave out the 'on the bike' bit

Having said that I've got a pair of these which I've worn out running and have held up ok. They replaced a pair I killed with sweaty lug 'oles (running on treadmill in Brazil in 35+ temperatures).
However on the rare occasions I wear them on the bike and now my usual pair when running on the local streets as well, I use a pair of bone conducting aftershockz. Can't comment on the bluetooth version as mine are wired but I really like them. @benb reviewed a pair here or use the search.

Tbh, I don't care. I bet the same people saying it's unsafe are those who advocate not wearing a helmet ironically.

In all seriousness though, cheers for the other info. Had seen those bone conductors when Googling earlier. Seem kind of cool. @benb 's review is a good start. Wondering if he has anything further to add now that he has used them more?

What about those that use headphones and advocate not wearing a helmet?

I have Aftershokz Bluez, the bluetooth bone conductions ones. I love them. They are great. I can hear the traffic around me, heck I can hear my tyres on the road. I do turn them off when I'm going through the city though, with it's extra traffic and learner drivers who don't understand the meaning of 'one way street' or 'cycle path'.

I bet you won't be saying that when the paramedics are scraping you off the road.

Tony.
So your saying don't wear earphones, but also don't wear a helmet? ;)

They are really good.
In retrospect I'm not sure the bluetooth is worth the extra cost, as if the handset is in my back pocket or pannier, the connection is a bit flaky, so I have my phone in my chest pocket anyway - in which case I might as well have got the wired ones.

But the sound is excellent, and if you set the volume right you can hear the music and external noises equally well.

Currently listening to the new Foo Fighters album, and Royal Blood. Rock makes you quicker up hills, haha!

I notice that they sit above the ear. Doesn't this interfere with gasses if one wears them?
I do like them and am thinking of buying some for using on my commute, but being a speccy git can imagine it might be a problem.

I tried not wearing a helmet ironically but it just looked silly not ironic.

Now when I choose to not wear a helmet, I dont wear it at a jaunty angle instead.

I quite like Bluetooth headphones but not while riding, part of the fun of the bicycle is being part of the world, not cocooned away from it in my own little world.
