Carbon fibre... LMAO!!!
My Worcester outy thingy pipe froze up yesterday. The HA engineer diagnosed it and said the pipe was too thin anyway. He hacksawed it and stuck a bucket under to catch the drips. All working now. It'll be next week probably before a bigger pipe is fitted.

My father always said to have two sources of heat in the house, advice I have heeded which paid off when my boiler went pop a few years ago. I used my coal fire for heat and showered at work until I could get it fixed (while I was on a business trip to HK).

Mrs Postman's parents had no heating last night.Tried phoning BG with whom they have a contract.Phones not being answered it seems the repair company who have two call centres one in Glasgow one in Edinburgh sent the staff home due to weather conditions.Ok for them but it seems the whole country are trying to get help.
So we started here in Leeds to search the internet for an heating engineer,i found one three streets away,he was busy but bless him he talked them through a procedure and hey presto they now have heat.
Now my in laws are paying £430 per year for servicing and breakdown cover, after this episode that will not be renewed in April. We have a list of registered engineers who service their type of boiler, and i bet it will be a darn sight cheaper than BG and it's repair company. All is well in Preston.

Mine didn't get to the point where the pipe got blocked and the boiler stopped working, but there was ice in the pipe and the boiler didn't sound happy, I've got a very old hot air paint stripper, gave the pipe a work over with paint stripper on low and the boiler sounds a lot better, it also seems to be working a bit better.

Sound advice. If the boiler goes for a Burton I have a gas fire in the living room and the portable electric heaters.

all fixed. I donned a Chuck Norris mask and stared at the outlet until it spontaneously de iced itself in fear.

Frozen condensate pipe here too. Boiler man has cut the pipe to get it working and is coming back on Monday to reroute it through the kitchen cupboards and out where the washing machine empties. What on earth possessed the original installer to have 8 foot of exposed pipe outside the house rather than a few inches that could be easily protected from the cold?

That was our problem but about four foot of piping. When the weather gets w.armer a thicker pipe is going to replace this one and i am going to get it sealed in some form of trunking.
