Just watched BBC's "Bomb Squad"...made me take stock of what others are doing to ensure my ability to sit here in peace and post what I want to, without fear of reprisal, without fear of recrimination and with a sure certainty that I am allowed to exercise my democratic rights.
I have a slight bias in this as my old man was ex forces and was treated , shall we say with minimum regard, by the army of the day when he was medically discharged. At the time squaddies had to MTFU and post traumatic stress disorders were ignored, which I'm sure a lot of people of my generation will recognise.......alcohol abuse, physical abuse, disassociation from family.....I lost my dad when I was seven, but he died when I was 35.
I would like to ask everyone who reads this to take some time to think, and to offer the best support they can to everyone who serves with our armed forces, and to their families.
