Radio 4 says there are over 400,000 French people living in London. They interviewed some of them this morning, during which mention was made of a website for French people in the UK. I had a look and found this website with a nice little English test: http://www.ici-londres.com/fr/test-anglais

The conclusion is hard to avoid: the French speak French-English better than the English speak English-English. And yet, with a 1st class degree in English and a diploma in translation (French to English), I feel I get by perfectly adequately in England.
