Okay folks, I finally got round to reading the book and I enjoyed it. I particularly liked the short chapters which fit in with my habit of reading late at night - read one or two chapters then put it to one side and go to sleep.
It is very obvious how talented Fignon was when you read the book. It's

His love of the sport really comes across well, and then at the tail-end of his career how shocking the rise of EPO abuse was. What Fignon writes confirms exactly what super-climber Andy Hamspsten said at the time. The phrase
'turning donkeys into race horses' springs to mind!
