Boredom: ideas to relieve it?

I'm after some ideas to deal with boredom - slowly getting well enough to actually be bored which is a good start. I have pretty much been bed bound since last friday only leaving the house for dr's & hospital apts and due to the steriods & painkillers I am on, can't sleep and haven't for rather a long time. Doing anything right now (specifically breathing is a major issue) and studying to catch up on my Spanish is not an option - I just don't have the concentration or strength. Even getting to the kitchen for a hot drink is taking all my strength.

Reading is only an option in small doses - I can't easily focus on a computer screen & have pretty much run out of books to read (physical paper is easier to read for some odd reason, but only if the book is old (brown paper - don't ask). I don't have much attention span, so it needs to be easier (I have previously read all of Terry Pratchet Discworld, Ian M Banks, like sci-fi stuff, recently finished reading Janapar & A Hiding Place, not into the 'classics' etc...) currently trying to read The Ipcress Files, but finding it hard going. I also don't have any books anymore, didn't keep them when we sold everything, and have not yet replaced anything.

Editing my photos etc, working on my photo website is not an option, I don't have the concentration, the eyesight or the patience right now.

I have one or two games websites which keep me going (www.by-art.com being my favourite).
I have even resorted to installing a Sudoku game on my iPhone but the iPhone is that old it can not take much, so anything else is out - needs to be iOS 4.2 compatible which not much is anymore.

Due to where we live, watching TV online is not easy, broadband is not fast enough and not capable of being faster, but I can download & watch offline.

Family options are out, my step-father is still on IV antibiotics and we can't risk his health - he is finally out of hospital and I don't wish to be responsible for him ending up back there more than the once a day he currently is for his IV AB's.

So I am needing ideas please, anything considered. I'm probably in bed for a while longer yet...
thanks in advance.

finance is an issue (I haven't worked for over 2 years now due to the tour & my subsequent leg injury, now this & a couple of other issues means it will probably be late summer/autumn before I can even consider looking for a job and I'm not entitled to any benefits) and I have already watched most of the (few) dvd's we have repeatedly - most things were sold prior to the tour and we don't have the finances to replace them. I have been going through the BT vision box for shows but nothing really appeals - I'm not the sitcom type person.
audiobooks - an idea - shall investigate that one - Bill Bryson's a short history of nearly everything works wonders for sleep despite being fascinating
podcasts I have tried but most of what I am interested in needs concentration (scientific background originally).
fraid I can't stand the radio, just grates on my nerves and I have a rather limited music tolerance (currently listening to "Songs from a World Apart" by Armand Amar & Levon Minassian)

What about one of the Nooks on special price at the minute ? Easy to read from.
problem is with my eyesight rather than anything else - 2 issues, one can't be fixed (the white & black new paper issue, old books I can manage more easily yellow paper & brown ink is fine - that issue I have lived with for +20 years or more).
The current issue is that I can't easily make a 3d image from 2 * 2d images so have to really concentrate hard - not something I can do after 3-4 weeks of next to no sleep and none in the last week at all. things like online games are easier because I can use colour to distinguish between things. The good news is that some days are easier than others thankfully and the cause is known.

I feel for you! When I got ill last year, I spent a month reading 2 books. That was all I could cope with - no TV or radio, and very little computer use. Boring!

Scrounging an old Kindle might be a good idea since the 'epaper' is more cream-coloured than white. There are lots of free books available for that platform.

I hope your condition improves soon!

Get well soon SatNav, another tick for Friday Night Comedy on Radio 4 podcasts... the Now Show with Hugh Dennis and Sandy Toksvig's News Quiz are brilliant, laugh-out-loud funny and don't take any effort to have to concentrate... brilliant.

can't install them on my iphone - too old... and no longer have a garden else I might have managed to get my ass out and sit in it. miss my old place from that point of view - we have a double brazilian hammock (double as in 2 people, not 2 brazilians that is)... and I would sit in the trees for hours watching the birds & bees if the weather was good enough. now we don't have a garden adn it is currently raining & cold (feeling it because the boiler is broken and I have a double chest infection  )
I guess I could try spouting chickpeas - that take 3-4 days of watching...
