Bosch Active Line 'clunk'

My late wife's Motus ebike is now increasingly being used by me...yes its a ladies frame but a large one and im not fussy, despite being a circa 2020 model, its been well looked after and only regularly used for a couple years max.
Personally I dont like mid drive, no sense or feel of the power kicking in etc but when I stop pedalling theres a mildly annoying clunk, backlash somewhere?
Checked the cranks, no play.
Normal or abnormal ?

Abnormal - that is the same vintage as mine and there is no clunk

Mine is the lowest version - crossbar and smallest battery - but I think the drive chain is the same
and I would notice a clunk

does it happen more when you are putting more power on the pedals or less?
when mine had loose bolts then the noises only happened when I was putting more power in myself
which did encourage me to learn to ride at higher pedal revs - but it shouldn't happen

Yes, more force from legs results in a more noticeable clunk when stopping pedalling. Light force from legs, often no clunk at all.

Seems strange to me. I can definitely feel it kicking in on my Cube eMTB, in any mode. On Turbo or eMTB modes I have to be careful not to do an unintended wheelie!

The LBS just said they had tightened them and that fixed it


I went out today and as I was riding along I was thinking about it

There is a very slight thump caused by slight split second overrun from the motor when I stop pedalling

this means the chain spins for a single link or so and then stops
so it is loose when I start again and when the chain ring starts the chain tightens and there is a slight thunk from the chain

I do not think that is what you mean - but I thought it might be worth mentioning
