Bosch ebike software updates - documentation??

Hi all

Background - I have had a Bosch powered Raleigh Motus for about 6 years
all has been fine except for Walk Assist
which I don;t really need

but it has been annoying that when I try it out the bike starts off OK
but then the motor cuts out
then restarts
then stops
etc

and it is not the 6 mph cutoff as it is going slower than that - it just cuts out
and it is the same in every gear

anyway - a few months ago the LBS was doing something for me and I asked him to update the Bosch software while he was at it
which he did - and then allowed me onto his computer to get hold of the report

so I know I am currently on version 1.3.3.0

and - magically - I found that walk assist now seems to work properly
starts and the bike just keep going slowly with not stops and start

anyway - so several questions
a) was this original problem just me or was it something that others had
b) was it the software that fixed it
c) where are the changes to the software documented - partly so people know whether or not to bother doing it
d) I am assuming that it was the motor software that sorted it - but was it?? - Could it have been the Purion controller??

thanks

Mike

Whether it's the motor or the handlebar controller, if it's fixed it leave it. Being Bosch you are unlikely to be able to do updates yourself (proprietary software)

I will - it is just that I would like to know what else is in the updates

I am probably nosey and suspicious as I have spent most of my life working with computers
so I have seen many times when updates were very useful
and almost as many when it screwed things up

so I like to see the documentation and at least some details about what it does

Now really expecting to find anything but I thought I would ask

(I've sent an request to Bosch as well - not expecting much of an answer!!!)

Im on the same type of bike, when I last tried I didn't get any far either with getting much in the way of info about the software or how to update. I chatted on here a little about it and it's down to licensing, and training, that the system is effectively not consumer serviceable.

Now I do dislike that, as I like to be able to try and fiddle myself especially with software/electronics but I've accepted this is the way.

I don;t mind the concept of "only to be done by an authorised dealer"

but if they won;t tell you what it will do then how can you decided if it is worth it or not

some dealer charge for the updates - mine Is OK as he knows I take my bike in for bits and pieces during the year
but if I was the sort that did everything myself

but wanted the walk assist to work properly

then I might have decided that it was worth paying someone to update it for me

but if I have no idea what it will do then how can I decide??

after all - if it works now then why change it
but maybe the update will do something I want
but if I have not thought of that then how will I know??

stupid lack of transparency in my view!

Yeah I agree.

I've had mine done twice, once at a dealer for free as we were buying a new bike and offered to do mine then the next time I paid for a diagnostic and upgrade - £15 I think.

If Bosch at least released the patch notes that would be ok, even if I can't do it myself.
