well, somehow iv managed to bend the shaft in my bottom bracket:excl:

i want to replace it, and i have the tools, but i don't know the size and i don't trust internet sellers
especially on sizes (problems in the past)

also i have no idea of, what price, for what quality, as bottom brackets are an unknown to me
£20 cartridge any good?

or should i just go to halfords and pay the £30 odd for them to fix it?

Bent the axle in the bottom bracket? Are you sure? I would have though other things would bend/break first. Cranks, pedals, that kind of stuff.

Anyway, what kind is it? Square taper, Octalink? Some new fangled thing?

If you have the tools, take the old one out and measure it. Or even just remove the cranks and measure it in situ. What you want is the axle length and the shell width. That's the bit of metal on the bike that it screws into.
