I had a very obnoxious deputy manager who used to keep ringing me at home when I was sleeping following a night shift. In the end I threatened to sue the owners of the company using Article 8 as they were not respecting my human rights by invading my privacy and right to a home life by keeping on ringing me. I have no idea if I would have been able to do so, or if the Act covered those circumstances. It was all bluff, but amazingly it worked. No more phone calls!

Matthew, I know you take this very seriously and are trying to do your bit to rid North Wales of dangerous road users, but I do not believe this is the way.

I may be wrong, but I do not see any constructive or positive outcome from this sort of behaviour.

Whether the policeman was right or wrong, your behaviour (as described) makes me feel slightly uncomfortable.

You've stopped verbal interaction with transgessing motorists, which is a Very Good Thing.

You've stopped shouting the speed limit at passing motorists as you film them, which is a Very Good Thing.

You've stopped loudly and audibly reading out the registrations of transgressor vehicles as they pass you, also a Very Good Thing.

I now heartily recommend that you stop photographing 'phone users stopped at lights and offering the pictures to constables on the beat.

Such behaviour will not speed your entry into the ranks of PCSOs.

Keep riding your bicycle and keep making those charming short films of your commutes... There is no vacancy for a Captain Rhyl, Street Avenger.

Ever been anywhere and not got involved in any kind of altercation, Matthew?

Matthew is young, idealistic and well meaning. I would never seek to dampen enthusiasm and idealism. In time will come wisdom. Matthew will have to find his own way through this phase just as so many good young people have before him. Let him enjoy his youth without putting him down.

That 'wisdom' leads to an ever more fearful society.

Cameras and such like is a reason crime is falling.
Another part is played by police learning to ignore as much as they can.

I'm not actually having a pop at him, I guess I just used to have a different idea of fun when I was his age, takes all sorts...
Swearing at police and getting drunk in public in result acting like dicks is not my idea of fun which some young people seem to think is and that has not changed over the recent generations.

Just that's the idea of some young peoples fun. Mostly dead beat council chavs who have nothing to look forward to apart from 5 kids with the chance of 4 of them not being theirs and to top it off a min wage job with no prospect of promotion.
Well that's my rant over ha.
