You dont necessarily need a solicitor that will take a cut out of the money. The offending driver is obliged in law to give you his / her name and address. Get the information (as explained by supersuperleeds) then send it recorded delivery to the driver giving him / her a couple of weeks to respond and suggest the docs should be passed to the insurance. If you dont get a response within a few weeks contact again and threaten legal action. Be prepared to go to small claims court. Why pay a solicitor when you can do it yourself.
