Brompton mudguard clearance

I have a S3L with factory fitted mudguards & Brompton tyres.

I'm thinking of trying some tyres with a more grooved tread pattern for the snowy/slushy days between normal roads and using my marathon winters shod hybrid.

Raleigh Records seem the most ubiquitous and bang on width wise & I've seen some CX type treadded ones at 16 x 1.5 in my local Halfords.

Anyone tried non slick tyres or a wider one that'd be run at lower pressure with a mudguarded Brompton? & did it work ok?

I've often used my Brompton in slush with the standard Marathon Plus I use all the time. No problems at all.

Yeah I agree the best "winter" tyres available for the brommie are M+.

Fitting crap tyres will ruin a Brommie. Marathon are great.
