They don't need innovation, they need fresh thinking.
It's not rocket science, get a decent hub for gearing,disc brakes etc etc. We all know where they should be at this juncture, so how come Brompton have their head up their arse? The clown leading the firm needs to step down and let fresh blood in.
It's all to play for, all it needs is to read the room and give the faithful what they want. They might even find some effort attracts new customers.

Why would it need disc brakes? They add weight and rim brakes work well in small wheels - a dusc wouldn't be much smaller than the rim.
What they should do is to iron out the deficiencies of the engjneering: the rear pivot, hinges and seatpost bush that need special tools to renew, the open rear triangle tubes that rust out, the headset cups that stretch the head tube at high mileages, and the silly use of a quill stem when no height adjustment is possible.
