Warlands in Oxford have taken on building my wheels up. Shimano Alfine-11 and a custom Schmidt SON-XS into custom made SMCBike deep carbon rims with specially modified Sapim spokes.... if they can do that they can take on stuffing a 5-speed Sturmey into a 28-spoke stainless 16-349 I'm sure....

They've done three wheels for me; an archetype/novatec disc set,a re-build of my old mavics with xt disc hubs and converted to single speed some well used 80's mavics.

Another recommendation for Andy at Bicycle Ambulance. He rebuilt one of my Brompton wheels albeit with a std hub. Still strong and true 2 years on.

Building Brompton wheels is about as simple as it gets, once you've got the right length of spoke (SJS sell them).

For Alfine hubs fitting to 38mm deep carbon rims?.... doubt it :-

Be nice to hear about how you find the hub. The older version were supposed to be very finicky and not as reliable as the new 3 speeds. A 5 speed would add a gear at both ends of the 3 speed range which might be a simpler and easier solution than the 3/2 arrangement you now get from Brompton.
