I had a gold chain on one of my Brommies, it soon became standard chain coloured. I fitted a KMC DLC Red/ Black chain to my Other Brommie and that is still in pristine condition after almost two years.

Have seen various colour chains on some 'pretty' single speeds around. Tends to match rim colours. But these bikes would never be taken out in conditions that might possibly get the chains or the rest of the bike dirty - !

I've found out that I can get a plain steel chain for another 40p so I've bought that. I don't think the 'pre-rusted look' would suit my bike.

My brown KMC singlespeed chains I used to run seemed no different to the more expensive silver version. I think the browns cost about £4. This was only a couple of years ago.

They sent me a brown chain instead of a plain one - I want my extra 40p back
