It's a LOT steeper in real life than it appears in that picture.... and it was bloody cold waiting for him at the top too

You mean they took off over that sharp drop?
Yes, like me ...

Fleet Moss is a tough climb. I have done it in both directions several times, and nearly broke my neck the first time descending towards Hawes when the road suddenly lurched down at 25% and I took off at high speed!

I got what felt like several feet of air before landing heavily, bouncing back off the road, landing again, and slewing about all over the place, wrestling to keep control of the bike. I had enough time in the air before the first impact to get that primaeval knot of fear in the stomach. I really thought I was going to die or be seriously injured, and was amazed that my tyres didn't pop.

The bike had started to rotate forwards in the air and I think I would have either snapped my forks off or gone over the bars on landing, but fortunately I reacted instinctively and managed to get the front wheel up!

We have a place in Ingleton so most of my summer riding as been around the Dent valley, Hawes, Aysgarth etc or in the other direction the Hodder valley/ forest of Bowland, some lovely climbs
