RIP Burt.

I wonder if he will say hi to Cupid Stunt.

Ultimately, isn't the feeling of sadness at the death of an octogenarian - especially one who's lived a full and enviable life like Burt Reynolds - the fear of that person's own death?
Nope. It's the sadness felt when losing someone.

I always wondered why someone would think the biological inevitability of death at such a grand age to be sad rather than celebrate it as a well-lived life full of highlights and memorable moments.

Sadness at the loss comes first. Celebration of the deceased's life comes later.

I've just had a look at the list of movies and TV series he was in, and was surprised at how few of them I had heard of; he must have made a big impact in a small number of roles as he must be one of the most famous actors.
He was Hollywood’s highest paid actor at one point in 1970s and reportedly turned down the role of Han Solo.

Not being a film buff i can't say i remember his film roles that much. I suppose Deliverance springs to mind, but even then he seemed to play a slight comedy role in it. One of my neighbours husband looks like Bert Reynolds did in his last year or so. Long grey hair, black bushy eyebrows and that vacant expression. I only said to myself the other day 'Heck,he looks like Burt Reynolds does now'. What a coincidence that was!

Interesting comment from Burt on the filming of the rape scene in Deliverance:
