Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I'm was 62 last October 27th but cannot get my bus pass until May 6th. I'll definitely get it, from the local library, just in case I ever use a bus or the next government stops them post-election..


Mr WD can get his bus pass from the local library as well. I had no idea you could do that.

Yep. Just take a proof of age thingy, ie driving licence, birth certificate, and a bill/bank statement as further proof of address. They also take the required photo there and then.
A short while later, the bus pass is posted out to you.

I had no idea there was one. What's the saving over the regular one,?

There was a one off charge of £10 (now £20, I believe) running from age of 60 till retirement age. After that, you apply for a Freedom Pass. All London buses and underground for free, also free for trains, incl. DLR, outside rush hours, if I remember correctly, for both the Freedom Pass and the 60+ Oyster card.
