I got asked a similar question a while back and had to go into full detail about ordnance survey benchmarks to an old guy who had lived near to the benchmark I was photoing for most of his life and wandered what it was for ages.

Bus shelter at Gillingham, not Kent, not Dorset but Norfolk. Somebody made an effort with the brickwork and thoughtfully left an opening to see the approaching bus.
