Hi

I am buying a new shifter, for front mech.

Currently I have shimano claris 8 speed shifter.
I can get it for £63 ish.

question is would other ones fit as well? Considering that all the other groupsets upshift twice only as well right?
As I am seeing say 105 or ultegra shifter for £50 ish.

So is there any reason why 105 shifter would not be compatible with Shimano claris 8 speed groupset.

Keeping in mind that it is only for a front left shifter front mech and not rear mech.

Thanks

Assuming thpis is a road bike...The shifters will look different so even if it’ll work, isn’t it worth paying an extra £13 for something that matches the other one?!

Another option would be to go for a bar end levers. You can get a pair of durace bar end shifters for the same sort of price. That's if your current levers are still OK for the brakes.

A stainless steel gear cable.
You likely have two or three choices on barrel adjuster location: up at the STI; at the down tube stop and on the cable run down to the down tube.
