In What way?
Ultra convenient, quick and easy to use.

Yes, but I prefer my bicycling to be a little less wasteful

If you mean the empty cartridges, well they go in the recycling bin.

Just because something can be recycled doesn't mean it isn't permanently using resources/energy. Transport, packaging, melting and manufacturing ain't free.

Yes is does niggle a little, but I offset this (in my mind) that by cycling pretty much everywhere I go, it is a small concession.
Perhaps someone could come up with a device that you could pressurise at home or recharge the refills with a track pump

A bit like...errm... all of your bike you mean...new tyres.. what do you do with them? Brake pads? etc etc etc etc, where do you draw the line. Any way...convenience is the factor.

If cycling generates 1 small cartridge as waste in say a month then surely as @Leaway2 says this is better than driving everywhere in a car burning fossil fuel and causing greenhouse gases

I read if you use co2 to pump up a tyre when you get home you should deflate the tyre and re inflate with a track pump is this correct?

Depends how often you pump them up. If it's before every ride then no need, if it's once a week or once a month then it may be a good idea.
