I haven't opened the roof of my car for about 12 days. No point as i'd just be letting freezing, or damp salty from the roads air in.

Doesn't stop some people.

If that person is that keen to be out in 'that'; perhaps they should have just cycled or walked ?

My roof will stay up until appropriate time as its actually enjoyable to be in the down position.......

Would you choose to cycle or walk in snow and ice over driving?
We have no idea where/how far the driver is going either

I've been putting E10 petrol in my Fiat 500c since I bought it a year ago. I was getting around 9 to 10 days off 20 quids worth, before the warning light came on. Two weeks ago by mistake I put 20 quids worth of E5 in. As I post, the low fuel warning light still hasn't come on. I've been told that E5 is bad for your engine and 'performance'. I must say that with my car definitely not being a 'performance' car, it hasn't made a jot of difference to how it er, performs! Should I now start using E5 instead of E10?🤔

E5 is a higher octaine as well these days, usually 97 or 99. Its actually less of an issue than E10. E10 has 10% ethanol in. Ethanol retains more moisture which is bad if the car sits with old fuel in.

Strictly speaking, you should see slightly improved MPG from the dearer stuff. On a run I see about 10% improvement, which can negate the cost premium.

My car gets a mix of both. I'll stick E5 in if I'm at a pump. My car isn't used enough to be concerned, and even though it is 22, it runs E10 OK. But as its stood alot, I'm best just having E5 in there and not loads of it.

Nothing wrong with E5. Can you justify the premium ? If you are getting better economy, then it might be. Normal fuel used to be E5 until a change about 18 months ago. Super or premium remained E5 and it usually has extra cleaning additives in it.

I've been advised to use

every 2nd fuel top up, if you buy E5. I suppose with it being about £4 a go, it might bring the E5 supposed economy down a little. 🤔

You don't really need Redex at all, especially if using the car regular, and Super etc already have cleaning agents in.

A very occasional shot is fine, but not every few tanks.

I have a specialist additives I very occasionally add to my tank, but mine is a much older car. Only 30ml a shot, and got about a litre for much less than redex. Use it once a quarter on average.

E5 is actually better fuel than E10, so you've been told porkies.

Right !

I can’t say 100% or be totally scientific (As hard as us mere mortals might try on public roads) - but I only use E5 [Shell V-Power if I at all can] - and although premium quality and of course premium price: I’m almost certain from what ‘testing’ I have tried: that I get MORE MPG with V-Power compared to say an E10 supermarket fuel.

My daily and weekend toy have both been remapped to use V-Power: and I do so few miles in either the price difference in fuels wouldn’t make too much difference.
BUT: along with the extra performance that my cars can take advantage of - comes the superb cleaning ability these premium fuels have due to all the extra additives. AND as I believe: you also get some extra MPG. If that’s enough to completely negate the price difference I doubt / can’t tell you for sure. But it certainly helps (If true 😉) in not making them quite as premium price as these “Super-fuels” appear at first glance……..

I can't weigh it up! I did a 7 mile journey today and still the low fuel light hasn't come on! I bought some Redex. It was only abut £2.15 with my Tesco club card. The next time I need a fuel top up I'll put £20 of E5 in and maybe a third of the bottle of Redex.
