I don't think the problem is with the cars more the entitled farkwits who drive them. :cursing:

It's both. An entitled farkwit in a Range Rover is far more dangerous than an entitled farkwit in a Skoda Citygo.

I like my Range Rover driving up and down motorways for work, I feel much safer and it is far less tiring than driving a smaller vehicle.

I regularly drive the wife’s smaller car or even my daughter‘s Honda Jazz when local. When in the office I commute by bicycle.

You can’t attribute blame for the terrible accident when a Land Rover Defender drove into a school on the manufacturer, if you did there would be no cars on the road.

If it's a 2.5 tonne vehicle that can do 0-60 in 5 seconds rather than a 1.5 tonne vehicle that can't, then that might have some influence on the outcome.
 
Drivers don't kill people, cars do. However if a cycle hits a pensioner and they die then it is the cyclist that kills them not the bicycle. Great duplicity with the media as always. I think there are some on here repeating the phrase blaming the car. A Dangerous driver can kill in a mini. And I mean a real mini not the huge BMW corruptions of the design ethos of the real mini.

They should just have speed limit for all traffic to be 20mph, controlled by sensors, and auto brake whenever a person is detected in front of the car. This way, society will slowly change from pedestrians having to wait for a gap in the road before crossing, to just crossing and drivers having to stop (or if they don't stop, the car just stops by itself).

It'll take about 10 years for people to stop complaining, and for the The Daily Fail to start talking about something else, but it could happen ya know.

What I don’t understand is why Range Rovers need to be so big, when there’s always a small cock in the driving seat?

Big cars are more profitable because they don't cost much more to make but can charge a lot more for it. Bigger cars give vibes of "get the effort outta my way, peasant" which small ego people really like, even if subconsciously.

We were right on the cusp of mandatory speed limiters when there was an uproar about the "war on the motorist" and the government rowed back on it and allowed them to be switch offerable.

An xc90 for instance is less tiring Vs a ka or mini cooper, over a long distance as the suspension is much better, it's much more directionally stable too.

The petrol fill up is more tiring though!!

I've got limited big car experience, drove a Kia Hyundai Tucson for a bit but never long distance. I don't remember my little Peugeot 206 to be tiring to drive and I used to do 300 miles a week commuting in that. The pug (2.0 Hdi) once gave me 600 miles off a full tank which was great lol.

We have a big car. It’s heavy because it’s electric. My kids are about the size of many adults. We wouldn’t fit in anything much smaller without them/us being squashed especially if we have stuff on the boot which we often do. We drive it safely.

I live in Wimbledon, and as much as I enjoy the tournament each year I’d prefer the AELTC not to have JLR as a sponsor, or at least not to use their cars for transporting the players and officials. It’s not as bad as when they were all diesels, but they’re still massive cars on narrow roads transporting (typically) one player or official. Frankly most of the officials should be encouraged to walk because they usually rent very locally.

It really sends a poor message regarding the overall sustainability of the fortnight and negates the many efforts made inside the grounds. Put them all on Lime bikes!!!

But seriously, I am all in favour of all vehicles with a bonnet height greater than a small child to require a commercial vehicle license (>7.5 tonnes) rather than a regular driving license.

Get the ruddy pick up things off the road apart from commercial use gets my vote
