Which is best for estimating calories used on a ride - Garmin or Strava? I ask because on a recent ride, which I uploaded to both sites, Garmin gives 1082 calories used while Strava gives 557 calories. Not bothered which it is but just wondered which is nearer the truth.

    Cheers for any help.

Strava probably not far off, but Garmin looks to be about twice what you would actually have burned. Your Garmin activity is private btw so only you can see it.

Cheers. Thought it would be the lower figure. Garmin ride open to view now. Why the big difference though?

I think strava is not far off but garmin and other sites are far too generous on the calories burned.
