For me touring is only fun if I can be sure I can rely on my equipment.
I'd rather spend more than really necessary on a product than end up with a product I am not fully satisfied with and which I will therefore replace sooner or later.
I always spend a lot of time reading reviews and forum posts before deciding to buy something.

What you have spent so far on your equipment is not too bad.

This is what I have spent so far:
Cannondale Touring bike, 1350 GBP
Hilleberg Tent (Akto) 260 GBP
Footprint for tent, 40 GBP
2 Ortlieb Back Roller Classic (60 GBP)
Rab down sleeping bag (Atlas 750), 150 GBP
Exped down sleeping mat (90 GBP)
Optimus Nova multi-fuel stove (50 GBP, second-hand)
...I think that's about it.

I am very happy with all of these products and doubt that I will ever have to replace them.

Happy touring!
