Ride It Like You Stole It!
Location
South Manchester
Just back from our family's first camping trip.

Just a couple of nights in Hayfield (less than 30 minutes from my house) with four other families - 10 adults and 14 kids. Was a blast.

Weather on Friday was a shocker - very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Decided at the last minute that we really needed the Decathlon Quechua Base(full) to attach to our large 3 man Quechua 2 second tent.

Got to shop, the Base had been reduced to £80 from £130 - great.

Driving to camp it was chucking it down.... four of the five families arrived at the same time, just as it stopped. The site had reserved space for us all together, so we pitched. With both the tent and Base being 2 Second ones, we were pitched and unloaded before the next shower, and with a cup of tea. Went and helped another family with their mahoosive tent.

All went well, BBQ's started, rain held off. Lots of beer consumed.

Saturday, the weather much better, so we walked off into Hayfield, found a nice pub, had lunch, drank some more beer, wandered back, started tea.

We all mucked in at this point - we had enough spaghetti to feed a small army, so most of the kids had that whilst the others cracked open the BBQ's again. Then drank more beer.

Really great weekend, all planning on doing it again. Made so much better in that the kids all knew each other from school, and all five families had kids in the Junior 1 class (Year 3).

Rain started as we packed up, so tents need a bit of drying off before they are packed away. We even managed to pack the Base up quickly, despite not having instructions for the 'de-popping' of it.....

How much does it cost to Oldham?
