As you may know, I now work for a local organisation, collecting recycling from doorsteps. One perk is the chance to womble any useful stuff left out, and I often extract a magazine to look at over lunch. Now! was very dull, all about celebs I hadn't heard of. The Lady was more my style, if a little dated. Country Life was all stupidly expensive property, Country Living was more interesting. The Eureka science supplement from The Times I read cover to cover.
Anyway, on Friday I came across, no let me rephrase that, I discovered Scarlet magazine. Basically, all about sex, aimed at women (complete with 'cliterature' erotic writing supplement. Opening it at ransom I found the letters page, and blow me, no, hang on, I mean would you believe it, the first letter was as follows:
"I've had a spring clean and found a couple of old vibrators I don't use any more and don't want. Can I recycle them?"
How appropriate!
I took it back to base for lunchtime, and we all had a good giggle over it, but decided not to leave it with the stack of National Geographics and Permaculture magazines we have for visitors to read....
Oh, and apparently, one particular online retailer will accept any... toys... one wishes to recycle, and give you a discount on a new one! I don't want to work in their post room!
